Meet Karin Wallensteen – The First Secretary at the Embassy in Brasilia who traveled the world, worked closely with two Swedish Prime Ministers and came back to Brazil as the Ambassador!
After having entered the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Karin’s first diplomatic post was at the Embassy in Brazil in 2004-2006. Back home again she worked with security policy in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, before spending more than two years as Counsellor in the Embassy of Sweden in Ethiopia. In 2016 she joined Prime Minister Stefan Löfven’s Office as Head of EU and International Affairs. In 2019 she was appointed State Secretary to the Prime Minister. When Magdalena Andersson took the helm as Prime Minister, Karin stayed on as her State Secretary for International Affairs and the Security Policy Council. Team Sweden in Brazil and the whole Swedish community are very pleased that Karin is back, now as Ambassador.
